What traveling alone taught me

When you travel alone, nobody else decides where to eat, when to leave, or which street to walk down. At first that’s freeing. By the third day it’s a skill.

A few things I noticed:

  • You talk to more strangers, because there’s no one else to talk to.
  • You remember more, because you’re paying attention instead of chatting.
  • You find out which of your habits are really yours.
