Why I'm building my own corner of the internet

Social media shows a version of you designed for the platform. A personal website shows a version designed by you.

Instagram is good at documenting what looked good. LinkedIn is good at documenting a career. Neither is a place where I can keep the unfinished experiments, the books that changed my mind, the rides, the half-formed questions, and the things I believe today that I might not believe in ten years.

So this is that place.

The rule

I’m trying to follow one rule when deciding what goes here. Not “would this look professional?” but:

Would I want this preserved here ten years from now?

That lets in a lot more than a portfolio would. Projects, yes. But also photos, trips, tiny notes, things that failed, and a monthly /now page that I’ll never delete, so that one day I can open September 2026 and see what I was thinking about.

What’s here

• Writing: longer pieces, some thirty seconds long, some twelve minutes.
• Notes: small thoughts that don’t need to be essays.
• Projects: everything I’ve made, not only the things that worked.
• Photos: no likes, no counts. Just pictures.

If you’re reading this, hello. It will be more interesting in five years.
